Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center, Cartier; their Holiday displays are the first things that come to mind when thinking of Christmas in New York, but did you ever wonder who’s responsible for creating those fantastic designs?

On more than one occasion I have set out thinking that I was producing a story about an inspiring place only to find that the real story is not in the place, but in the people. Fred’s Pantry is built on a foundation of inspiring people.

For years The Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester operated the Yorktown Teen Center. It provided a vital service to the community, giving the working parents of Yorktown a safe place to send their kids for the few hours between school dismissal and the time the parents got home from work. In early 2009, due to extreme budget cuts, The Boys & Girls Club was forced to close their satellite units in Yorktown and Tarrytown. Fortunately for Yorktown, Helena Rodriguez recognized that losing the Teen Center was not an option. Although her children are both of college age, and the closing of the Teen Center had no impact on her personally, Helena took on the challenge of keeping the Yorktown Teen Center open. It became her “mission”.

The following is off his website: “Maestro Knows is an online show based around Levi Maestro?s day to day life. Taking place primarily in Los Angeles, Maestro shows you LA through his eyes. Still living in sunny Los Angeles, CA and still learning, working, & creating. Maestro has directed and produced content for several corporate brands and music artists, building relationships one day at a time. Now in 2009, Maestro sets out to showcase his working experiences and relationships with other creatives through his online show entitled Maestro Knows. ‘You gotta work hard and do for yourself, cause nobody else is gonna do what you want for you’.”

I don’t remember how I first came across Dermot Tynan and the work of his company Claddagh Films, but he seems like one of those film-makers that you may enjoy following. Maybe it’s the Irish in me.

“Amy Baer is a New York based composer for film and multimedia. Stemming from a background in classical piano and voice, her music combines the freshness of contemporary sounds, be it electronic or acoustic, with the traditional techniques of classical composition and film scoring.”

“I grew up in Massachusetts. I have been as far as Hawaii and went to college in New York. I am single and I am living a life where everyday is different and my own personal goals get in the way of my current job in sports. One thing has remained consistent in my life, Television.”

“For the past 20 years I have been following my passion as a career and it has taken me around the world to places I have felt privileged to have seen.” Passion is the key word. View some inspiring work by a guy who appears to love what he does. If you take nothing else from it, there are some of you out there who will learn that it takes a lot more than just shooting in 24p to get that “film look.”
